Cancelling your subscription

Our subscriptions have no minimum term. Cancellation is done from the client area, with no justification, no notice period, and no fee. This guide describes what happens next, and above all what to do beforehand.

What happens next

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid. Your service remains active until then: you do not lose the days you have paid for.

No pro-rata refund is made for a period already started. That is the counterpart of the absence of commitment, processing fees, and cancellation fees.

Before leaving: the list

To retrieve Where When
The site's files Through your hosting's transfer access Before the term
The databases Export from the database management tool Before the term
The messages in your mailboxes From an email client over IMAP Before the term
The invoices Client area, invoices section Before the term
The lists of aliases and forwardings The hosting's administration interface Before the term

Check that your copies open before considering the matter closed. A corrupted archive is always discovered at the worst moment — see Understanding backups.

The domain name

If your domain name was ordered with us, its management follows rules specific to the extension concerned and is not to be confused with the hosting's. Open a ticket before canceling to organize its transfer: a domain left unwatched during a transition is hard to recover.

If the domain comes from elsewhere, it stays with your registrar; you will only need to point it at your new host.

If you are moving to another host

Plan the domain switch before the end of the paid period. That is what avoids an outage between the two, and it costs nothing since the days are already paid. The procedure is the same as in the other direction: see Migrating your site from another host, read in reverse.

Think of your email addresses too: messages arriving during propagation can land on both sides.

Data after cancellation

Your files, your databases, and your messages are deleted at the end of the retention period that follows cancellation.

This deletion is irreversible. Once that period has passed, no restoration is possible, including by us. It is the counterpart of a commitment made in our privacy policy: not to keep what no longer has a reason to be kept.

If you change your mind

As long as the paid period runs, the service is still there. Tell us in a ticket: it is simpler to resume a running service than to recreate one after deletion.

If you are leaving because of something

Tell us. A cancellation that explains itself is more useful to us than a silent one — and sometimes the problem gets fixed.
